'I was very wrong’: Jose Enrique shocked by Liverpool transfer news

Jose Enrique has admitted on Instagram that he was wrong about Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Cody Gakpo.

The former Liverpool star has said that he did not believe that the Reds would be able to sign Gakpo from PSV in the January transfer window.

PSV announced late on Boxing Day that they have agreed a deal with Liverpool over the transfer of the Netherlands international forward.

The 23-year-old, who starred for the Netherlands at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, will now undergo formalities before officially becoming a Liverpool player.

The Guardian have reported that Liverpool will pay PSV an initial transfer fee of £37 million for Gakpo.

Good signing for the Reds

In our opinion, Cody Gakpo is a very good signing for Liverpool, both for now and for the long term.

The Netherlands international is a versatile forward who can play out wide or down the middle.

And he is only 23 now.

So, there is potential for Gakpo to get even better in the coming years.

Now, of course, the youngster could take a little while to get used to the Premier League and to Liverpool’s playing style, but we have no doubt that he has the potential to be a massive success at Anfield.
