‘News reaching us’: Sky reporter says World Cup ace has arrived in England to sign for Liverpool
Sky Sports News are now claiming that Cody Gakpo has arrived in England to have a medical with Liverpool.
It was widely reported on Boxing Day that the Dutch attacker was set to join the Reds, while PSV Eindhoven have themselves confirmed that a fee has been agreed.
This one seems to be moving very quickly, and according to a bulletin read out on Sky Sports at around midday, Gakpo is in the country and is set for a medical.
Sky Sports’ anchor, Rob Wotton gave an update on Gakpo.
“How about this? News reaching us in the last few moments. We now have confirmation that Cody Gakpo has arrived in England for a medical ahead of his expected move from PSV Eindhoven to Liverpool,” Wotton said.
It looks as though this one will be signed, sealed and delivered very soon.
A fee has been agreed and now a medical is happening. Everything is pointing towards this transfer being finalised in double-quick time.
The Times recently reported that Gakpo could be eligible to make his debut against Brentford on January 2nd, and it seems as though the Reds are on course to get this transfer over the line before that date.
In a world where most transfer stories are long and drawn-out, this one will be done almost as soon as the window opens– in complete contrast to the Reds’ move to Luis Diaz last January that accelerated towards the end of the transfer window rather than at the beginning.
Liverpool have done a stellar job on the market here and it may not be long before they can officially announce that Gakpo has joined the club.
