Report: 'Complete' Liverpool midfield target now set for Chelsea medical
Liverpool have recently been linked with Vasco da Gama midfielder Andrey Santos.
Earlier this week, The Times reported that the Reds had been keeping tabs on the 18-year-old.
Liverpool were one of several Premier League sides eyeing Santos, alongside Manchester City and Newcastle United.
The Reds midfield is an area that could really do with bolstering over the coming year or so.
And Santos, one of Brazil’s best young midfield talents, would’ve been a great shout for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
However, it looks as though Liverpool have
missed out on Santos, with Chelsea reportedly closing in on a deal.
Brazilian outlet UOL – via Sport Witness – has reported that the Blues deal is ‘very well forwarded’.
Apparently, Santos is already expected for a medical and contract signature.
UOL, like The Times, mentions interest in the player from Liverpool, as well as Newcastle.
The Athletic have also covered Chelsea’s progress towards signing Santos.
The outlet claims that the two clubs are in the process of finalising a deal.
So it looks as though Liverpool have missed out on Santos, what with so many outlets saying Chelsea have nearly sealed a deal.
Admittedly, speculation linking the Reds with the teenager wasn’t particularly heavy. Liverpool probably had a bit of interest and not much else.
In comparison, links with the likes of Jude Bellingham and Sofyan Amrabat have been a lot stronger.
