Liverpool in the hunt to sign 27-year-old Serie A centre-back
Liverpool, Man United, and Tottenham are ready to table offers for Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skriniar in winter. Slovakia international is approaching the end of his deal and he could be a free agent next summer. But Inter won’t want to lose him at all, although all of their advances towards deal talks have gone in vain so far.
If the Nerazzurri fail to reach a consensus, they can decide to let Skriniar leave for a certain fee in winter. There won’t be a dearth of suitors as Chelsea and Man City also have been credited with an interest in Milan. The 27-year-old centre-back has already hit the prime of his career and is even ahead of his peers in some aspects.
Man United brought in Lisandro Martinez in the summer. But Varane’s persistent injury issues have kept them on the edge. In addition, there has been severe uncertainty regarding Maguire’s long-term future at Old Trafford.
As for Liverpool, the Reds boast of a pretty strong defensive unit. But their recent displays have led to many believe they will need some reinforcements in winter. And given a chance, they will tap into the transfer market.
It stays to be seen who wins his race as he will be the hottest property in this winter transfer window. For now, it looks like Man United, Liverpool, and Tottenham, among others, will soon approach the Slovakian centre-back to reach a pre-contract agreement.
