Liverpool rejects the chance to sign Brighton star

Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool have rejected the opportunity to sign Brighton forward Leandro Trossard. The Belgian international has been sensational for Brighton this season, earning himself a call-up to the World Cup in Qatar.

With Trossard looking to make a step up in his career and with his contract set to end this season, he will likely be on the move. His agent has been offering him to multiple clubs in England, including Liverpool.

The decision to not go ahead with Trossard is likely due to their recent signing of Cody Gakpo during the January transfer window and the focus on integrating him into the team.

Liverpool’s management probably has a plan for the type of players they want to bring in, and Trossard did not fit that plan. Liverpool is in the market for midfielders and adding another attacking talent is surely not on the cards.

Despite Liverpool not showing interest in Trossard, it is likely that he will find a new club soon. Trossard is a talented player who has shown that he can perform at the highest level, and it would not be a surprise if other clubs in England or elsewhere expressed their interest in signing him.

Speaking on the Last Word on Spurs podcast, football journalist Ben Jacobs mentioned, “The first thing to say with Trossard is that he wants a move away, no specific preference, and his agent has been working extremely hard to fuel interest.

He went to Tottenham, he went to Chelsea, he went to Liverpool, he went to Manchester United, and he went to Newcastle United. Liverpool and Manchester United dismissed it, even as I understand it got a little bit irritated by how much on the agent’s side was being leaked about interest in his client.”

Liverpool is currently in the market for a midfielder and has been linked to Jude Bellingham, Moises Caicedo, Sofyan Amrabat amongst other.
