Liverpool set to make approach for€25m-rated Valencia stopper
Giorgi Mamardashvili is on the radar of Liverpool. The German coach is scouring the transfer market for a possible replacement for Adrian, with Valencia shot-stopper the latest name on their shortlist. Adrian will be out of the deal at the end of the campaign, and Jurgen Klopp is looking to bring in an alternative.
To that end, several shot-stoppers, including Ron-Robert Zieler, have emerged on the Merseyside giants’ radar. The Reds have Kelleher at their disposal, and the Irish goalkeeper has been outstanding for Liverpool when called upon. Caoimhin helped the Merseyside giants win the League Cup last term with his heroics in the penalty shootout.
Kelleher produced a similar performance earlier this week against Derby County as well. However, Caoimhin has been linked with an exit because of the lack of regular football. The Irish shot-stopper needs to play more often to fulfil his tremendous potential.
Mamardashvili has been impressive for La Liga giants, and it remains to be seen whether the 22-year-old is set to join the Reds as a backup keeper. Giorgi is the first-choice goalkeeper at the Spanish club, but he is unlikely to get regular playing time at Liverpool ahead of Alisson Becker.
The Reds have other priorities as well, and Jurgen Klopp must look to strengthen his side across the board. A quality central midfielder, a wide forward, and a backup defender is the need of the hour.
Liverpool have had several injury problems this campaign, and they have suffered because of the lack of depth in the side.
