Liverpool already have identified perfect $93k per week summer transfer for Jürgen Klopp

Mason Mount has been linked with a move to Liverpool and should he join the club in the summer transfer window he could give Jürgen Klopp two key traits.

Mason Mount has been a name who has been linked with Liverpool recently and while some fans have scoffed at the mention of the Chelsea star, the England international would not be a bad fit for Jürgen Klopp.

According to The Guardian, Liverpool is interested in Mount and could make a summer move, with the player stalling in contract negotiations with the Blues. Mount's contract expires in 2024, and he earns just $93k (£75k/€85k) per week at the moment.

Mount is thus available and as Jorginho's transfer highlighted in January, Chelsea is a club who are willing to do business with their arch-rivals, which means Liverpool might have a slight chance of luring Mount to Anfield if he continues to dither on renewal talks at Stamford Bridge.

Bringing Mount to Liverpool would be beneficial for Klopp and his team for two reasons. One is purely logistical. As per the ECHO, Liverpool was only able to fulfill 24 of the 25 places available in their Premier League squad with Klopp having met his non-homegrown threshold of players and currently one below the maximum homegrown players allowed to be submitted in the squad over the age of 21.

That means Klopp's squad has one less player, even if he can call upon more under 21 players, it does leave Liverpool at a slight disadvantage and it's a spot Mount could easily come in and fill.

But that's not the only reason why the Chelsea midfielder would be a smart recruitment by Liverpool.

The Reds this season have struggled defensively, particularly when it comes to defending from the front. Liverpool's attack and midfield have not been able to provide the kind of protection to the defense than they did in previous years.

Much of that has been down to the fact that Liverpool's attackers and midfielders are not winning enough duels and are not proactive enough in the defensive transition of the game, which has allowed teams who are quick in those phases to quickly exploit them in turnovers and score out of nowhere.

While most will concentrate on Mount's impressive attacking figures in terms of goals and assists (even if he has dipped this season), one aspect of his style that goes under the radar is his defensive ability. Mount's work rate is second to none, and he is an ideal fit for Liverpool in that sense.

As per Wyscout, he averages an impressive 7.7 successful defensive actions per 90, wins 68.14 per cent of his 6.54 defensive duels per 90 and averages 4.75 possession-adjusted interceptions. Among his peers, this makes him one of the best when it comes to defensive output in his position, and his ability to defend Liverpool from the front could turn Klopp's side into more of a solid unit.

Mount's engine and ability to operate in multiple roles make him a rare asset. At 24 years old, he is still relatively young as well, which means Liverpool should definitely be in the running for him if he is still available for the right price in the summer.
