Liverpool held negotiations with 24-year-old Atalanta midfielder

 


Liverpool are monitoring the progress of Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners and could launch a possible swoop for the footballer. The Reds could lose many midfielders next summer and a contingency plan should be in place.

A move for Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham could be in the offing next summer but the Reds would need more than Englishman as far as their recent performance stands. There has been a drastic fall in their quality this campaign and the German manager will have to plan very meticulously to figure out what has gone wrong so far.

They brought in Gakpo to fill in the absence of Luis Diaz but the actual problem lies in the midfield. Neither Thiago nor Henderson have managed to churn out consistent displays regularly while the likes of Milner and Keita are on the verge of leaving the Merseyside giants next summer.

It is believed the Netherlands international is in the top of his list and the highly-rated midfielder has already been touted as the Reds’ next target. The 24-year-old midfielder can offer his service from several positions and can even be utilised in the defence if needed.

Liverpool’s Dutch contingent is growing bigger and bigger and with Theun’s signing a whole new dimension could be created. He could prove to be a shrewd signing but Atalanta would charge a steep compensation keeping in mind his value.
