Liverpool interested in signing €45m-rated English midfielder
Liverpool have been linked with a move for Man City midfielder Kalvin Phillips at the end of the campaign. The Reds are likely to make a move for several midfielders at the end of the campaign and they have been linked with players like Bellingham and Rice.
The Merseyside giants could make a move to add the Brighton star Moises Caicedo as well if the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea fail to sign him. England international has had a difficult time since his move to Man City and he has not been a regular starter for Pep Guardiola.
Liverpool are in desperate need of a quality defensive midfielder after the regression of Fabinho and Kalvin could prove to be a perfect acquisition. Phillips is used to playing in a high-intensity pressing system having worked with Marcelo Bielsa and he should be able to fit into the German manager’s system with ease.
Furthermore, the 27-year-old midfielder is well-settled in the PL and he could make an immediate impact at Liverpool next campaign. It stays to be seen whether Man City are prepared to sanction his departure at the end of the campaign, especially to a direct rival like the Reds.
Meanwhile, the Merseyside giants have been urged to make an audacious attempt to sign Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich in the summer. Liverpool could kill two birds with one stone if they were to somehow prise Germany international away from the Bavarians.
