Chelsea set asking price for Liverpool target Mason Mount
Chelsea want as much as £70million to part with Mason Mount this summer following interest from Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham.
The England midfielder is out of contract in 2024 and there’s been little to no progress with the Blues in talks over an extension.
Mount rejected Chelsea’s last offer but the club are unwilling to meet his reported wage demands of around £200,000-a-week.
The midfielder has seen a host of team-mates handed superior deals in the last ten months since Todd Boehly’s takeover.
Mount, 24, is unwilling to tie himself down to the club into his thirties and with negotiations now at an impasse, it points towards the playmaker leaving the club this summer.
His situation has attracted Manchester United and Tottenham, but it’s Liverpool that are the most serious contenders.
Jurgen Klopp wants to revamp his midfield this summer, with James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita set to leave.
But Mount won’t come cheap, with the Athletic claiming that Chelsea want £70m to sell the midfielder this summer.
That would be an ambitious asking price for a player entering the final year of his deal but the Blues hope to spark a bidding war.
